On the 10th, the Gwangju City Council’s Special Committee on AI Demonstration Cities officially launched a policy advisory group to review Gwangju City’s AI policies and explore directions for their development.
According to the AI Special Committee, the advisory group is comprised of experts spanning both the working and academic sectors, including AI entrepreneurs, professors, and researchers. They will be responsible for examining the overall AI policies pursued by Gwangju City and providing suggestions for improvement.
During the appointment process, the introduction of digital appointment certificates utilizing blockchain technology drew attention. Applying technology from Vaisen, a local company holding a patent for blockchain-based QR cards, this method allows for the secure digital recording and verification of appointments, helping to prevent forgery and enhance reliability.
Kang Su-hoon, Chairman of the AI Special Committee, stated, "While Gwangju aims to become a national AI hub city, professional analysis and oversight are absolutely necessary throughout the entire policy process." He added, "With the launch of this policy advisory group, we will further strengthen the council's oversight and support functions." The AI Special Committee plans to hold its first consultative meeting this month to gather opinions from the advisory group, and will visit major project sites in person next January to inspect the progress.
