Expanded Expert Participation for AI Policy Review… Expected to Strengthen Response Capabilities to Pending Municipal Issues

Even Appointment Certificates Befitting the AI Special Committee! First Attempt at the Regional Level to Apply Blockchain-Based Digital Appointment Certificates

The Gwangju Metropolitan Council’s Special Committee on Artificial Intelligence Demonstration Cities (Chairperson Kang Su-hoon, hereinafter the AI Special Committee) announced on the 10th that it has officially appointed a ‘Policy Advisory Group’ to review Gwangju Metropolitan City’s AI policies and explore directions for their development.

This Policy Advisory Group is composed of experts from the working and academic sectors, including AI-related businesspeople, professors, and researchers. Moving forward, they will examine the direction of AI policies promoted by Gwangju Metropolitan City at the council level, provide opinions for policy improvement, and conduct consultations and special lectures.

The appointment process garnered attention for the introduction of digital appointment certificates utilizing blockchain technology. The Council issued blockchain-authenticated certificates to apply new technologies to legislative activities; the relevant technology was provided by Vaisen, a local company possessing blockchain mainnet technology and having registered the nation's first patent for a blockchain-based QR card. Blockchain-based letters of appointment are significant as a new initiative that prevents forgery and enhances reliability, serving as a method to securely record and verify appointment facts digitally.
